There are various mental attributes that you can find in very successful people which distinguish them from all of the others. When all things are going wrong, real champions and real achievers seem to take all of this in stride. They have the uncanny ability not to let the unfortunate circumstances, failures, mistakes, and all bad breaks throw them off their track. In the end, they can quickly bounce back and return their performance to a high level again. How do they do that?
High achievers are psychologically tough, stubborn, and resilient. Champions have the ability to cope with difficulties and obstacles — their strong belief in themselves and a higher power that keeps them mentally adept and resilient. Champions recognize the greatness they seek will never come easy and they know they will face obstacles and setbacks. Champions get that it’s fine to enjoy an experience when it’s positive, to embrace it. When an event is negative, it is taken as a lesson and understood that is better to let go and accept it. They also recognize that these uncontrollable circumstances are upsetting and distracting them. However, it’s not the event itself that hurts the most, when they throw off track as much as it is the response to that event. So while we cannot control the circumstances, we can learn to control our response to them! Champions know it is not possible to stay positive all the time, but they are fully bound to being absolutely engaged in life.
Champions are conscious they are their own competitor, and they improve the result by competing with themselves. Those exceptional people have habits that help them achieve what they want. In contrary people who are struggling tend to have habits that undermine them. You should never give up. It would be best if you never gave into doubt or fear. Giving up is the only true loss.
I am lucky because my parents taught me to mentally practice “performing” exactly the way they would like to. In addition to that I also systematically imagine things going wrong and then I “practice” successfully coping with each thing that went wrong. In this way, I not only taught myself to expect the unexpected but to know how to manage these situations confidently. Everyday practice Ashtanga yoga helped me a lot to control uncontrollable. Remember mastering mind is the best and efficient way to live. It is essential to cultivate a practice of mindfulness, it means to be able to master the skill to live purposefully in the ‘NOW‘. Continuously bringing back attention to what is happening around us, rather than being fixated on the past and future. It is the best what we can do to work on creating the ability to push aside any emotional baggage that would stop us from achieving our life goals.
We should never allow limiting beliefs or negative self-talk to discourage us from the path of greatness. We should master our mind by only allowing emotions and thoughts that serve us to achieve our goals. Being mindfully aware of those noises we are able to rule our minds, and nothing can get in our way.
Commitment. High achievers do not give up, they are fully committed to success. Powerful beliefs in themselves motivate them to continuously push through difficulties and breakdowns. Champions are committed to their success and are ready to dedicate their time and potential to achieve their goals. Let me show you the difference in a very simple question – “How long should I train/work/learn every day?” and “How long can I train/work/learn every day?” Do you see the difference? The mindset with full commitment to success is strong and cannot be influenced by anyone or anything.
Doesn’t matter which is their profession, but champions always stay connected with their body. They know very well their body inside and outside and respect its nutritional needs, and have a high awareness of what their body requires in order to grow as an individual towards success. They are mindfully conscious if their body is out of harmony, they will never be able to perform at a high level.
Champions immerse themselves in process goals. They consider most about how fully they follow their chosen process towards goals every single day. Both, in sports and business area, if you’re not aspiring to rule you life, to be the very best, you’re coasting. And unfortunately, you can only coast in one direction.
